Leadership
Elders and Deacons
Our congregation is led by both elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7) and deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-13). Each group has unique responsibilities based upon the instructions set forth in the New Testament for church organization. The elders hold ultimate responsibility for matters of faith and doctrine, and for shepherding the congregation, while the deacons are primarily responsible for the benevolent ministries of the church and for the care of its material resources. Together the two groups compose the church board, which conducts the routine legal business of the congregation. Major issues, such as the selection of paid ministers or major capital expenditures, are decided by a vote of the congregation.
